General Information & Role in City Government
The City Clerk’s office posts all required notices to the public, prepares agendas and keeps minutes of all City Council and City Council Committee meetings. This office works closely with City Council to provide adequate opportunity for Council’s review of each agenda posted; provides adequate support materials for each agenda item and properly maintains the proceedings of the Council through preparing and posting minutes of each meeting. Any individual or group wishing to speak before Council at a City Council Meeting or a City Council Committee Meeting needs to complete this form: Petition or Request From The Public and read the following: Rules and Procedures taken from City Ordinance Sec.2-24. Please return the completed form to the City Clerk’s office to be placed on the appropriate meeting agenda. The forms must be submitted at least ten minutes before a meeting begins.
Boards and Commissions
This office also coordinates with the Boards and Commissions. Any citizen of Alvin, Texas who would like to serve on a Council appointed Board, Commission or Committee, needs to complete this form: A Consent And Willingness To Serve form for Boards, Commissions, and Committees and please return the completed form to the City Clerk’s office for Council’s consideration.
Open Records Request
The City Clerk is the custodian of all records. Anyone wanting to request public information must fill out an Application for Public Information and please return the completed form to the City Clerk’s office.
Oak Park Cemetary
It is also a responsibility of the City Clerk’s office to improve the appearance and marketing of Oak Park Cemetery. The City has operated Oak Park Cemetery since 1892. If you have any questions regarding Oak Park Cemetery, please contact Tommy Peebles or Grace Cruzen at (281) 388-4255. They will be happy to provide you with timely and accurate information concerning the cemetery. Anyone wishing to place a grave marker or foundation setting at the cemetery needs to complete this Application for Grave Marker and Foundation Settings and please return the completed form to the City Clerk’s office with the appropriate fee.
