Recreation Specialist : Parks Department


Recreation Manager –Seeking Recreation Specialist

Under the Supervision of the Recreation Manager, this position is to facilitate recreation activities including but not limited to, community special events, and aquatic programs. Customer service is the name of the game with the Recreation Division we love people and we want people to love us. You will often find us registering citizens for classes or activities, creating marketing publications for events and programs, maintaining facility cleanliness, assisting with program scheduling, and various administrative services.

 

You must have current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment; ability to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification within 6 month of employment; ability to obtain American Water Safety Instructor Certification within 6 month of employment; ability to obtain American Red Cross LGI certification within 6 month of employment; flexible schedule – some nights and weekends required - more frequently during the summer months; associates degree and 1 year of recreation experience preferred. High school diploma or GED required.

$10.00 - $13.00 Per Hour

Learn to Swim Coordinator/Assistant Manager : Parks & Recreation Department

 

A combined position that is responsible for both duties.  Assist pool manager at facility and supervise lifeguards.  Two years lifeguard experience with Red Cross certification, first aid and CPR.  Responsible for the coordination and evaluation of the Learn-to-Swim unit.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include:  teaching classes, planning, assigning and directing work for the other WSI instructors, addressing complaints and resolving problems.  Minimum 18 years of age. 


SALARY: 
 $10.00 - $13.00 Per Hour

Swim Instructors - WSI : Parks & Recreation Department

 

Red Cross water safety instructors certification or equivalent other certification.  Teach Level 1 through Level V.  Minimum age17.

Swim Instructors - WSI Aide : Parks & Recreation Department

 

Proficient swimmer and comfortable with the water.  Teach Level 1 through Level V swim lessons.  Minimum age 15.

Lifeguards : Parks & Recreation Department

 

Responsible for enforcement of rules and regulations at the Bob S. Owen and Harby Junior High pools.  Maintain pool, safety of swimmers, and collection of fees.  Must have current Red Cross certification for advanced lifesaving, first aid, and CPR or equivalent other certification.  Minimum age 16. 

 

SALARY:  $7.25 - $8.50 Per Hour
