The Cultural Diversity Awareness Commission was created by Ordinance No. 95-HH. The Commission shall be comprised of (6) six voting members and (2) two associate members who shall be appointed by the Mayor and ratified by the City Council. All members of the Commission shall serve staggered three-year terms.  

The commission shall act in an advisory capacity to the city council to make recommendations to foster, through education and community programs, an awareness, understanding, and appreciation of cultural diversity within the city.
