9/15/21 Update - 4:00 p.m.

Tree limbs / branch debris collection information:

 

  • Place tree limbs in TIED BUNDLES out with regularly scheduled weekly garbage collection.
    • Bundles must not weigh > 50 lbs or exceed 48" in length 8 bundles allowed to be set out with garbage collection
    • 8 bundles allowed to be set out with garbage collection

                                                            OR

  • Place BAGGED tree debris out with regularly scheduled weekly garbage collection
    • Must not weigh > than 50 lbs.
    • Only 8 bags allowed to be set out with normal garbage collection

                                                                      OR

  • Place tree limbs out for heavy trash collection without bundling or tying on regularly scheduled Wednesday HEAVY trash collection day.

 

 


9/14/21 Update - 11:20 a.m.

CORRECTED INFORMATION ON TRASH COLLECTION:

There will be no garbage collection services today (Tuesday, September 14). 

Tuesday's regularly scheduled collection will be picked up on Wednesday, September 15, 2021.

THURSDAY AND FRIDAY will remain on the normal collection schedule.   

The 3rd Wednesday’s heavy trash collection will move to Wednesday September 29th. 



9/14/21 Update - 8:30 a.m.

Please be aware of possible downed trees and power lines. Do not attempt to touch or remove any downed lines. Texas-New Mexico Power (TNMP) creed are working to restore power as soon as possible.

9/14/21 Update - 1:45 a.m.

 

Texas-New Mexico Power is aware of multiple power outages throughout Brazoria County, including Alvin, and are actively working to restore services. The current anticipated time for power restoration is 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14th. However, this timeframe is subject to change based on the severity of the storm. 9/13/21 Update - 6:30 p.m.

 

The City of Alvin Emergency Management team is continuing to monitor the effects of Tropical Storm Nicholas.  The Emergency Operations Center has been activated and will be fully staffed until the further notice. Weather predictions still indicate a landfall in the early morning hours on Tuesday as a strong tropical storm near Matagorda Bay.  The Alvin area could potentially see rainfall in the amounts of 6 to 12 inches throughout the evening and into the early afternoon on Tuesday.  We anticipate the storm to move through quickly and clear the area by Tuesday afternoon.  Residents are strongly encouraged to stay off the roadways this evening until the weather event moves out of the area as street flooding is a likely to occur in some areas of town.  Please do not drive through roadways that have been closed due to high water.  

There will be no garbage collection services on Tuesday, September 14. Normal operations are scheduled to continue on Wednesday, September 15, as long as roads are navigable.  Regularly scheduled collection days will run a day behind through Saturday, September 18, 2021.   Tuesday’s regularly scheduled collection will be picked up on Wednesday and so on through Saturday.  The 3rd Wednesday’s heavy trash collection will move to Wednesday September 29th.   

All non-emergency City offices will be closed until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14th, unless otherwise communicated.

9/13/21 - Garbage Collection Update - 4:00 p.m.

 

Garbage collection services for Tuesday, September 14, 2021 has been cancelled due to the impending severe weather from Tropical Storm Nicholas.  At this time, Texas Pride plans to continue normal operations on Wednesday, September 15, as long as roads are navigable.    Collection days will run a day behind through Saturday, September 18, 2021.  

 

  • Tuesday’s regularly scheduled collection will be picked up on Wednesday
  • Wednesday’s regularly scheduled collection will be picked up on Thursday
  • Thursday’s regularly scheduled collection will be picked up on Friday and 
  • Friday’s regularly scheduled collection will be picked up on Saturday

 

The 3rd Wednesday’s heavy trash collection will move to Wednesday September 29th.  

 


 

9/13/21 @ 1:00 p.m. Update

Significant rainfall is expected for the Alvin area through late tomorrow morning (9/14). Rainfall estimates are that between 8 and 16 inches, which could cause localized flooding. Emergency Management Officials are currently monitoring the track of the storm and will activate the City's Emergency Operations Center today at 3:00 p.m. City crews are making preparations for this weather event. Residents are encouraged to stay off of the roadways as weather conditions are predicted to deteriorate beginning late this evening.

 

All City of Alvin Municipal Court dockets scheduled for the week of September 13, 2021, are postponed until further notice.
